I was there at the debate, it was interesting but at the same time, quite disheartening. Several times Mahdi Hassan put it to Martyn Indyk that the US is biased and unfair in its policies in the Middle East and Mr Indyk basically agreed and smiled. It was as if Mahdi Hassan was expected Mr Indyk to respond and deny that charge and make out that the US is actually a just nation with a fair foreign policy, but to everyone’s surprise he just said the US biased and that’s how it is.
