Ar-Room (The Romans)

1الم

30|1|Alif, Lam, Meem.
30|2|The Romans have been defeated.
30|3|In a nearby territory. But following their defeat, they will be victorious.
30|4|In a few years. The matter is up to God, in the past, and in the future. On that day, the believers will rejoice.
30|5|In God’s support. He supports whomever He wills. He is the Almighty, the Merciful.
30|6|The promise of God—God never breaks His promise, but most people do not know.
30|7|They know an outer aspect of the worldly life, but they are heedless of the Hereafter.
30|8|Do they not reflect within themselves? God did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them, except with reason, and for a specific duration. But most people, regarding meeting their Lord, are disbelievers.
30|9|Have they not travelled the earth and seen how those before them ended up? They were more powerful than them, and they cultivated the land and developed it more than they developed it, and their messengers came to them with clear signs. God would never wrong them, but they used to wrong themselves.

30:9 have a look around. Despite our best efforts people are born, they mature, then die. This is the way, death is inevitable.

30|10|Then, evil was the end of those who committed evil. That is because they rejected God’s revelations, and used to ridicule them.
30|11|God originates creation, and then repeats it. Then to Him you will be returned.
30|12|On the Day when the Hour takes place, the guilty will despair.
30|13|They will have no intercessors from among their idols, and they will disown their partners.
30|14|On the Day when the Hour takes place—on that Day they will separate.
30|15|As for those who believed and did good deeds—they will be delighted in meadows.
30|16|But as for those who disbelieved, and rejected Our signs and the encounter of the Hereafter—those will be hauled into the torment.
30|17|So glorify God when you retire at night, and when you rise in the morning.
H 3281, CH 48, h 20
A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa
from al-Husayn ibn Sa’Id from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Ali ibn abu Hamza from
abu Basir from abu ‘Abd Allah, recipient of divine supreme covenant, who has
said the following:
“When you perform the Maghrib (prayer at sunset) and
morning prayers say, ‘(I begin) in the name of Allah, the
Beneficent, the Merciful, there are no means and no power
without the help of Allah, the Most High, the Most Great,’ seven
times. Whoever says this will not suffer from leprosy, insanity as
well as seventy other kinds of misfortunes. The Imam said, ‘If
you say in the morning and in the evening, “All praise belongs
to Allah, Lord of the morning and all praise belongs to Allah,
Who opens up the morning’, [two times]. ‘All praise belongs to
Allah, who removes the night by His power and brings the
morning through His favor and we enjoy good health,’ then
recite verses 255 of Chapter Two of the Holy Quran, the last
verse of Chapter 59 and ten verses of Chapter 37: ‘Your Lord,
the Lord of Honor, is by far more exalted and above being
considered as they describe Him. (37:180) Peace be with the
Messengers (of Allah) (37:181). It is only Allah, the Lord of the
worlds, Who deserves all praise.’ (37:182) and, ‘Glory belongs
to Allah, when they (creatures) are in the morning and in the
evening, (30:17) all praise belongs to Allah, in the heavens and
on earth, at later evening and at noon time, (30:18) He brings out
the living from the dead and the dead from the living, gives life
to earth after it dies away and in a similar way you will come to
life again.’ (30:19) and, ‘He is Glorious and Most Holy, Lord of
the angels and the Spirit. (O Lord,) Your mercy comes before
Your anger, no one deserves to be worshipped except You, glory
belongs to You. I have committed evil deeds and wronged
myself, grant me forgiveness, grant me mercy and accept my
repentance; You grant acceptance to repentance; You are most
Merciful.’”
30|18|His is the praise in the heavens and on earth, and in the evening, and when you reach midday.
30|19|He brings the living out of the dead, and He brings the dead out of the living, and He revives the land after it had died. Likewise you will be resurrected.
30|20|And of His signs is that He created you from dust; and behold, you become humans spreading out.

30:20 seems human race was initially created from dust/ soil. Is this separate to Nabi Adam AS ?

30|21|And of His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, so that you may find tranquility in them; and He planted love and compassion between you. In this are signs for people who reflect.
30|22|And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colors. In this are signs for those who know.

30:22 diversity is a sign of Allah, what could this mean?

30|23|And of His signs are your sleep by night and day, and your pursuit of His bounty. In this are signs for people who listen.
30|24|And of His signs is that He shows you the lightning, causing fear and hope. And He brings down water from the sky, and with it He revives the earth after it was dead. In this are signs for people who understand.
30|25|And of His signs is that the heaven and the earth stand at His disposal. And then, when He calls you out of the earth, you will emerge at once.
30|26|To Him belongs everyone in the heavens and the earth. All are submissive to Him.
30|27|It is He who initiates creation, and then repeats it, something easy for Him. His is the highest attribute, in the heavens and the earth. He is the Almighty, the Wise.
30|28|He illustrates an example for you, from your own selves: do you make your servants full partners in the wealth We have given you? Do you revere them as you revere one another? We thus explain the revelations for a people who understand.
30:28 Allah has not given us full power or control over things. We just can follow the laws of this universe. Allah can do as he wills. Just as a slave does not have the power, position, or respect of a master, we are like the slave to Allah.
30|29|Yet the wrongdoers follow their desires without knowledge. But who can guide whom God leaves astray? They will have no helpers.
30:29 wrongdoers do as they like rather than what they should do. Eg I should go to work and earn money for my family, but I don’t want to, if I do what I want, rather than what I should do, then I would be in the wrong.
30|30|So devote yourself to the religion of monotheism—the natural instinct God has instilled in mankind. There is no altering God’s creation. This is the true religion, but most people do not know.
H 1456, CH 4, h 2  Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yunus from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan from abu ‘Abd Allah, recipient of divine supreme covenant, who has said the following: “I asked him about the words of Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious, ‘The invention of Allah (had a certain) nature with which He created all people. . . .’ (30:30)  What is that creation (and nature)? The Imam said, ‘It is al-Islam. Allah created them with such nature at the time He made a covenant with them to believe in Oneness of Allah as He asked them all, “Am I not your Lord?” when all the believers and the unbelievers were there.’”
30|31|Turning towards Him—and be conscious of Him, and perform the prayer, and do not be of the idolaters.
30|32|Of those who divided their religion, and became sects; each faction pleased with what they have.
30:32 it seems the sect in this context is one who divides, eg takes a part of the religion and exaggerates it or takes a part and abandons other parts.
30|33|When affliction touches the people, they call on their Lord, turning to Him in repentance. But then, when He gives them a taste of His mercy, some of them attribute partners to their Lord.
30|34|To show ingratitude for what We have given them. Indulge yourselves—you will surely know.
30|35|Have We sent down to them any authority, which speaks in support of their idols?
30|36|When We give people a taste of mercy, they rejoice in it. But when adversity befalls them, because of what their hands have perpetrated, they begin to despair.
30|37|Do they not see that God expands the provision for whomever He wills, or restricts it? Surely in this are signs for people who believe.
30|38|So give the relative his rights, and the destitute, and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek God’s presence. Those are the prosperous.
30|39|The usury you practice, seeking thereby to multiply people’s wealth, will not multiply with God. But what you give in charity, desiring God’s approval—these are the multipliers.
H 8621, Ch. 50, h 6
Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Ibrahim ibn ‘Umar al-Yamaniy who has said the following:
“Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that Riba’ is of two kinds: One kind is that which is
consumed and the other kind is not consumed. The gift that one presents to someone in order to
receive Thawab (rewards from Allah) is better. Of this kind is the Riba’ which is consumed as it is
mentioned in the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘The Riba’ in which you are involved
so it increases in people’s property does not increase before Allah.’ (30:39) The other kind of Riba’ is
that which Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has prohibited and has warned those involved in it
with punishment in the fire.”
H 8620, Ch. 50, h 5
Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hammad from al-Halabiy who has said the following:
“Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that once a man came to my father and said, ‘I have
inherited a certain amount of property and I knew the owner from whom I inherited received Raba’
and I know with certainty there is Riba’ in it and I do not feel happy to consume it because of my
knowledge about it. I asked the scholars of law of Iraq about it and they said, ‘It is not lawful to
consume it.’ Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, said, ‘If you know exactly Riba’ property in it and you
know the owner also, you must separate it and return to the owner. If it is mixed you can consume it in
good health and pleasure. It is your property but you must stay away from what the previous owner
would do. The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy
of their services to Your cause, granted relief to what is passed and prohibited from Riba’ in coming
times. If one is ignorant he is exempt, until he comes to know of the unlawfulness of Riba’. Once a
person learns that Riba’ is unlawful and punishment becomes necessary if one consumes Riba’ just as
it (punishment) is necessary for one who has consumed Riba’.’”
30|40|God is He who created you, then provides for you, then makes you die, then brings you back to life. Can any of your idols do any of that? Glorified is He, and Exalted above what they associate.
30|41|Corruption has appeared on land and sea, because of what people’s hands have earned, in order to make them taste some of what they have done, so that they might return.
30|42|Say, “Roam the earth, and observe the fate of those who came before. Most of them were idolaters.”
30|43|So devote yourself to the upright religion, before there comes from God a Day that cannot be averted. On that Day, they will be shocked.
30|44|Whoever disbelieves, upon him falls his disbelief. And whoever acts righteously—they are preparing for themselves.
30|45|So that He may reward those who have believed and done the righteous deeds out of His bounty. Indeed, He does not love the ungrateful.
30|46|And of His signs is that He sends the winds bearing good news, to give you a taste of His mercy, and so that the ships may sail by His command, and so that you may seek of His bounty, and so that you may give thanks.
30|47|Before you, We sent messengers to their people. They came to them with clear proofs. Then We took revenge on those who sinned. It is incumbent on Us to help the believers.
30|48|God is He who sends the winds. They stir up clouds. Then He spreads them in the sky as He wills. And He breaks them apart. Then you see rain drops issuing from their midst. Then, when He makes it fall upon whom He wills of His servants, behold, they rejoice.
30|49|Although they were before this—before it was sent down upon them—in despair.
30|50|So observe the effects of God’s mercy—how He revives the earth after it was dead. Indeed, He is the Reviver of the dead. He is Capable of everything.
30|51|But if We send a wind, and they see it turning things yellow, they would continue thereafter to disbelieve.
30|52|You cannot make the dead hear, nor can you make the deaf hear the call when they turn away.
30|53|Nor can you guide the blind out of their error. You can make hear only those who believe in Our signs, and so have submitted.
30|54|God is He Who created you weak, then after weakness gave you strength, then after strength gave you weakness and gray hair. He creates whatever He wills. He is the Omniscient, the Omnipotent.
30|55|On the Day when the Hour takes place, the sinners will swear they had stayed but an hour. Thus they were deluded.
30|56|But those endowed with knowledge and faith will say, “You remained in God’s Book until the Day of Resurrection. This is the Day of Resurrection, but you did not know.”
30|57|On that Day, the sinners’ excuses will not benefit them, nor will they be excused.
30|58|We have cited in this Quran for the people every sort of parable. But even if you bring them a miracle, those who disbelieve will say, “You are nothing but fakers.”
30|59|God thus seals the hearts of those who do not know.
30|60|So be patient. The promise of God is true. And do not let those who lack certainty belittle you.
